Amy Davidson’s neutral and modern kids playroom space
We had the pleasure of teaming up with actress, blogger and mom, Amy Davidson to create the perfect playroom for her 2 ½ year old son Lennox.
With the addition of some of our favorite children’s furniture pieces, like the Toy Box and Poco Kids Table Amy was able to transform this space from busy and cluttered to organized and modern – the perfect room for both momma and son to enjoy.
She shared with us the challenges she faced when designing a playroom, the hardest part about being a mom and her favorite thing to do with her son. Read along and check out Lennox’s new play space that was over two years in the making.
1. Can you tell us a little bit about your style?
I wasn’t exactly sure what my style was until I saw Nico & Yeye’s kids furniture. The clean lines and modern feel completely complement the play space I wanted to create. I guess I just had to see it before I knew exactly what I wanted!
2. What were your challenges when designing Lennox’s playroom?
When babies are little everything is so incredibly colorful (i.e. toys, play mats, ball houses etc.), which is amazing obviously, but can tend to make a play space look cluttered and very busy. Once Lennox became a little bit older I knew I wanted to create a kids space that provided storage for all of his toys while easily accessible for a tiny human. With the sleek Nico & Yeye handcrafted furniture we designed it and have a perfect combination of clean lines that are still playful for a kids play space!
3. What is the best part of being a mom? What are your challenges?
I think the mom guilt is the most challenging aspect for me. If I’m not staring at Lennox I feel guilty. I could be cooking, cleaning or replying to an email and the guilt just creeps up on me. It’s crazy! I have yet to figure out how to manage it. On the flipside, Lennox and I have the most amazing relationship. We talk all day long. He’s at a place where he’s able to tell me his feelings and the stuff that comes out of his mouth blows us away! He repeats things that we say, of course, but he also remembers experiences and conversations we’ve had and he brings up random topics all the time. It fascinates me! Not to mention he’s hilarious! I’ve never experienced this type of pure joy until now. So incredibly grateful!
4. Tell us your favorite thing to do with Lennox at home.
Definitely having a dance party. We turn up the music and we dance and laugh! We end up in a big hug and cuddle for a couple minutes and then Lennox always knows when I want to kiss!
